For the past year, my cell phone service has been on a month to month basis, as my contract ran out last August and Verizon Wireless eliminated the plan I was under. Since I didn’t want a cheaper/more expensive plan, I stayed in a month to month plan. Now, one year later, my decision has paid off.
A few weeks ago, the mighty Saco River in Maine claimed my cell-phone as another of its victims and caused irreparable damage to it. Since then, I’ve been off the cellular grid, and have quite enjoyed the seclusion. Still, I need a cellphone and have been craving an iPhone since it came out a few months ago, yet also thought it was way too expensive. Having never gotten an iPod as I didn’t want two devices in my pocket, the iPhone appealed to me greatly, and now that it’s dropped in price $200, it’s a lot easier to justify (especially since the iPod Touch is the same price as the 4GB iPhone).
So for waiting a couple of months, I picked up an 8GB refurbished iPhone for a little over $350. Still a bit too expensive, but worth it. My Macbook Pro was a bit too expensive and it’s been worth every penny so far, so I’m pumped to start playing around with my iPhone (should be here by this Friday), even with all of the negative AT&T stories I’ve heard. At least now if my iPhone breaks, I’ll be able to sync all my data to a new phone, rather than being without my address book as I am now. OK, I’m off to go enjoy the last few days I have off the cellular grid!
