Reminder: Entrecard Contest Ends Soon

I had a few issues on the backend of this blog this morning that have taken all day to get resolved but I wanted to remind everyone about the Entrecard contest that ends in two days. The turnout has been great so far and we’re now up to 968 EC credits that are up for grabs! Advertisements are booked up to the end of the contest but I will try and drop 32 cards to get the total up to 1,000.

Also, Graham Langdon, the founder of Entrecard, dropped by the other day and hinted at a big announcement on the Entrecard front so I might stay with the Entrecard community depending on the announcement. In either case, the contest will go on. Good luck to everyone involved and thanks to everyone for the great turnout so far!

If you haven’t yet, make sure to drop a comment on the Entrecard contest post for a chance to win all my EC credits. If you write a blog post about the contest you get ten times as many chances to win (make sure to let me know about your post via e-mail or comment)!

Vamanos Espana / Let’s Go Spain

Normally I don’t follow soccer too much but the Euro 2008 drew me in a little bit, as does the World Cup every four years. As my whole family background is Polish I obviously rooted for the Poles though I didn’t expect them to go too far. I lost interest once the Polish team got bounced from the tournament but now that the final is set and features one of my most hated national teams, the Germans, I’m back. Even though the German team has a few Polish players I still can’t in good conscious root for them. I’ve got to root for the western Europeans and hope Spain beats up on Germany! Vamanos Espana!

    Haha, excellent.

This championship still feels a little bit surreal.

  • Celtics Draft JR Giddens

With the last pick in the NBA draft, the Boston Celtics drafted J.R. Giddens, a New Mexico Lobo (and former Kansas Jayhawk). As I haven’t been intensely watching college basketball the past few years I wasn’t aware of this kid but from some of his youtube videos he’s clearly a very diesel and athletic basketball player.

Check it out, J.R. can fly!

Note the comment from DizZLEFosHiZZLE34 from a week ago ["the c's should pick this kid up with the last pick in the first round"] on that above video…looks like Dizzle either works for the C’s or is a serious draft prophet.

Here’s another sick dunk by J.R., this one being featured on ESPN’s top ten list (coming in at #7).

Nice! I’m getting pumped to see him in some Celtic green!

Not only can J.R. dunk, he’s got a nice shot too. He shot over 50% from the field and 33% from behind the arc. Here’s a nice three minute long montage of J.R.’s monster dunks and sweet shots.

The analysts are saying Mr. Giddens has “character issues” but with the ubuntu vibe around here I’m not too concerned. I’m going to trust Danny Ainge and if Danny thinks J.R. is good, then that’s good enough for me.

Here’s a final clip of J.R. and one of his Lobos teammates during midnight madness. A nice showcase of the skills he brings to the court.

    Let’s go Celtics!
