Orb: Paranormal or Naturalistic?

While taking pictures around my house (you’ll see why soon), a picture I took on my porch of the grassy field next to my house looked a bit unusual.

Can you see it?

Yup there’s a strange white orb, floating in the sky. From watching many a episode of Ghost Hunters on the Sci-Fi channel and similar shows, I know the jury is out on whether this orb thing is a piece of dust, moisture, or some sort of paranormal phenomenon. What’s odd is the structure of this orb, at least compared to the examples of naturalistic orbs on wikipedia.org. This particular orb has a circular, cell-like structure.

The level of detail in that photo is amazing. You can clearly see a center with spoke like structures surrounding it. I’m not an expert on dust nor on ghosts, so I won’t make any conclusions [it's dust], but I think it looks cool either way.

Dust? Ghost? Alien? Moisture? Photo-shopped? Flying micro-organism? Other?

    In lieu of a post tonight, I’d like to give out a few quick shout-outs to some people I know in “real world” and their digital manifestations.

    First up are my fellow Tar Heels over at Thrills on the Hill. The fellas over there are posting events going on in Chapel Hill during the summer. As someone who spent a summer on the hill, I’ve got to say it’s a great idea, I had fun during my summer in Chapel Hill, but there were more than a few nights with simply nothing to do.

    Going in the complete opposite direction is the guy-girl combo (and 50% fellow Boston Latin School alums) over at I’m Peachy (a.k.a. Impeach Him Impeach Him), with the mission of posting pictures of real Americans who support the impeachment of President Bush. The great twist here, is these pictures are coming from Texas, President Bush’s home-land.

    Moving on to less controversial topics, if you like Hip-Hop/Rap music, check out Contak. I used to give this kid a hard time when we were both attending Latin but I’ve got to give the kid credit, he can rap. Check him out and make sure to tell him to send me a free promo CD so I can write up a review!

    Last but certainly not least is Random Antonym. Another Latin alum and fellow business partner, Brandon’s site design is wicked nice and unique. Brandon himself will admit the content on his site is still a work in progress, but in the mean time, at least check out some of his pictures from around the world.

    Props to all four of you and keep it up everyone.

    There’ll be some changes to this blog in the coming days, mostly in the Wordpress theme and general layout of the site. I’ll be re-arranging and consolidating the categories you see in the side-bar to the right, as well as fixing a few things behind the scenes. If anyone has any suggestions, complaints or ideas, feel free to contact me. My e-mail address, AIM screen name, as well as several other points of contact (facebook, myspace, digg, etc.) are listed in the About section or you can just post a comment if you don’t want to bother with those communication methods.

    So if you see a feature go missing over the next few days or see a different look to the site, don’t panic!
