This course was one of my most enjoyable and educational. I took the course in the Spring of 2006 and earned an A- [3.7]. I’ve copied the description of this class from this UNC-Chapel Hill site below:

“Objective:

This course is designed to provide an in-depth knowledge of the practice and theory of financial accounting at an intermediate level. Each topic will be covered along the following four dimensions: theoretical and practical motivation, accounting mechanics, business applications, and existing empirical research results.

Teaching Methods:

  • 50% Lecture
  • 30% Exercises and Problems
  • 20% Cases

Material Covered:

  • the three financial statements and their presentation
  • the conceptual framework of accounting
  • revenue recognition
  • errors and changes
  • detailed reporting for specific asset categories”
